This article explores the constitutional factors and the family constellation factors influencing vocational choice. Constitutional factors include areas of superior functioning, inferior functioning and compensatory movement. Special emphasis is placed on the role of the father in the family constellation and on the role of the school environment. The role of play in developing physical and mental skill, responsibility and “vocational morals” is discussed.
