This article was originally the 1967 President’s address to NASAP. It discusses the type of person a counselor should be, suggesting that a good counselor “… must be a person essentially without fear: without a fear of making mistakes” (p. 22) and have an understanding of their life style. He also mentions the traits of sensitivity and astute observer as being desirable. He emphasizes the importance a thorough understanding of IP principles, a firm commitment to these principles, and a clear concept of the nature of man.
