The concept of social interest is discussed as being an innate aspect of humanity composed of two parts; (1) social, standing for the objects in the outside world, and (2) interest, a psychological process. The meaning of social interest for a variety of Individual Psychology authors is reviewed, leading to the final definition of social interest as “an interest in the interests of mankind.”
